Startpage

Education (Latin: educare, educate, but also educere, lead away from (ignorance)) is an umbrella term for education, learning and upbringing within a school environment (formal education) or beyond (non-formal and informal). Education involves teaching methods, learning processes as well as the transfer of the collected knowledge, norms and values of a society and its components.

Schools

A school is an institution in which education is given at a certain level. Due to compulsory education law, most children attend school, although other forms of education are also possible to comply with compulsory education.

The word ‘school’ is derived from the Greek ‘σχολή’, which means ‘free time’. After all, education was originally about something that required free time: most people, including children, spent all their time working. The meaning of the word evolved into the name for scientific discussions, safety or lectures.
