Delamont Outdoor Education Centre
Delamont Outdoor Education Centre is one of two centres
operated by the Belfast Education and Library Board. The
centre is situated within the 300 acre Delamont Country
Park, on the shores of Strangford Lough, 2 kilometres SW
of the village of Killyleagh.
Delamont currently has the capacity to accommodate up to
27 students plus accompanying staff. Students are accommodated
in bedrooms varying in size from three to seven students
and staff in single or double rooms.
Delamont offers a wide variety of courses to meet the needs
of both young people and adults from within the Belfast
Education and Library Board area. The objectives of most
courses can be achieved through a programme made up from
the following list of activities;-
- Abseiling
- Adventure Walk
- Archery
- Biking
- Bouldering
- Camping
- Canoeing
- Hill walking
- Kayaking
- Orienteering
- Rock Climbing
- Ropes Course
- Sailing
- Teambuilding Exercises
The centre staff team are dedicated to making your stay
a safe caring and enjoyable experience that we hope you
will remember for many years to come. The instructional
team have a great many years of experience in their respective
disciplines and are all qualified to national levels in
several areas of outdoor education. Outdoor Education is
not merely an occupation to them but a way of life.
Bookings are usually taken in March of each year for the
following academic year. All schools and registered youth
groups in the Belfast area are sent booking forms. Groups
wishing to make bookings at other times in the year should
contact the warden for a booking form.
