Freedom of Information (FOI) and Data Protection Act (DPA)
Welcome to the advice page for FOI/DPA. In legal terms schools are separate entities for data protection purposes and in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, rather than a collective part of the board.
However, the board feels it appropriate to offer advice, where requested, in order to maintain a uniformity of practice across schools in the boards administrative area.
In this connection, it is proposed to publish a series of practical guides, to help schools understand their obligations in relation to processing information.
